[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]To all of you lovely hardworking, idealistic, young brides out there, I’m tellin’ you, I’ve found the secret! For years I haven’t wanted to admit it. I’ve tried to avoid it, but I’m telling you it’s true. It’s all about the bacon!

Have you seen me lately? Quite, unfortunate I know (cough). Yes well, I’m standing there in the kitchen with my ratty hair twisted on top of my head, in my frumpy house clothes, teeth not yet brushed and not one bit happy about morning having arrived. Stache comes walking through the kitchen and exclaims, “Oh, you most beautiful person, you!”. Crazy! I think he actually meant it!!

I just happened also to be standing over a well-timed, sizzling pan of bacon. It works every time! I shouldn’t admit this, but a few years back, the man told me that his favorite “perfume” on me was bacon (I kid you not). Yuk! They can’t help themselves. I’m telling you, even those principled vegan guys like their tofu flavored… like bacon.

Those of you who know me, know I have spent years digging through the Bible and every Christian book on marriage known to mankind. We won’t even talk about the buckets of tears or the prayers I’ve prayed for my marriage. Over the years the Lord has patiently listened and directed. Life seems just to get simpler, the older I get.

You’ve heard of the “The Five Love Languages” by Gary Chapman? An intriguing book to consider, though one can’t mistake it for Biblical counsel per say. Because it isn’t. But, as Mr. Chapman labels our uniquenesses, what’s a “quality time,” kind of girl, married to a distracted hardworking “act’s of service” kind of guy to do?? Get a pan of well-timed bacon goin’ I tell you! You’ll have his undivided attention in no time. Well, as long as you don’t mind sharing it with… bacon.

All facetiousness aside, there is great wisdom in knowing our husbands and loving them accordingly. Certainly, God gives us the freedom to explore and enjoy the vast differences He created in each of us as individuals. I hope God brings a sweet smile and precious, knowing laughter into your marriage today.
