Have you ever had a specific directive asked of you that you’ve neglected to complete?  With no apparent circumstances pushing for accomplishment, you repeatedly – for THIRTY YEARS, run in a cycle of ‘neglect and forget.’ Such was the case between God and me in regards to my hope.

High Time To Share

As you might imagine, I’ve had some repenting to do! It’s high time to get my thoughts collected and perpetually ready to share.

1Peter 3:15 talks about honoring in our hearts Christ as Lord, “…always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence.”

I Have Good News!

The Gospel in it’s simplest term is, “the good news.” This good news declared by God is recorded for us in the Bible. Romans 1:16 refers to the gospel as, “the power of God for salvation.” The power of God is not found in a particular religion, ritual or any sort of man designed observance. Jesus Christ is that power. In fact, Jesus Christ is the good news!

Romans 3:23 states “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Because God is Holy, our sin separated us from Him. God is not only a holy God, but He is also a God of justice. Romans 6:23 warns but encourages, “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

It’s all about Jesus

John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him, should not perish, but have eternal life.” Jesus is God’s plan to save me from my sin and bridge the way back to Himself.

Romans 5:6-8 tells that …” while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will hardly die for a righteous man; though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die. But God demonstrates His own love towards us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

Not By Works

No specific works to accomplish on my part. God wholly gives to those who are not righteous. My hope is in Christ alone.

The Bible reveals Jesus, the Son of God, lived a perfect, sinless life. And then he took on the sin of the world and died to pay the price for that sin. Romans 5:19 teaches, “For as through the one man’s (Adam) disobedience the many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the One (Jesus) the many will be made righteous”. 2 Corinthians 5:21 reveals, “He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him”.

Thank the Lord!

Thank the Lord, His story doesn’t end with death. Jesus conquered death! And he miraculously came back to life after three days.

Romans 10:9-13 assures, “…if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth, he confesses, resulting in salvation. The Scripture says, “Whoever believes in Him will not be disappointed.” For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him; for “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

Hope Is In Christ Alone!

So that’s my hope! My hope is in Christ alone. Through God’s enabling grace, He helped me find Him in His Word. He can be YOUR hope as well! Jesus is the hope of the world if they receive Him. John 6:37 confirms, “All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will certainly not cast out.”

Jesus’ words in Matthew 11:28-30 calls out “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

Romans 8:1 states, “Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” And 1Thessalonians 5:9-10 explains “For God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us so that whether we are awake or asleep, we might live together with Him.” Christ offers us not only salvation but also a relationship with Himself.

Let’s Chat!

I’d love an opportunity to chat with you more if you have questions about my hope in Christ. For starters, I share my personal testimony in a post called Early Encounters With God. If I’m unable to answer your particular questions, I will certainly give my best to find someone who can. I will pray that God would open the eyes of your heart to see His glory. And I pray God gives you confidence in His person, His work and in His word, of the hope He offers you today.
