Running a household is no different than any other job. Tools are necessary to get the job done. And great tools make it even better! Be sure and check back as I continue to add more of my favorites.

By highlighting these favorite household tools, I neither suggest or promise particular results and intend no pressure towards their purchase. Still, they represent my personal favorites.

Dyson Vacuum

I have had two Dyson Vacuums and have appreciated them both. My family is large and we live on a Hobby Farm. Up until nearly a year ago, we had a dog and sometimes a cat living in our house for fourteen years. My vacuums take a terrible beating and have served me well.

Rowenta Iron
Rowenta DW8080

Besides our refrigerator, the coffee pot, and perhaps the stove, our iron is likely the most used of household tools that we own. Stache needs his cotton work shirts pressed five days a week and of course, I like my own clothes pressed. Needless to say, the iron gets used nearly every day.

That said, I’m pretty particular about an iron’s quality and its features. First off, it must be heavy! Those featherweight look-a-like imitators, simply will not do!

In addition to being heavy, an iron must have excellent steam capability and consistent heat. And to top it all off, it must have an automatic shut off, – for obvious reasons. Life is too busy to not have that sort of back up!

I have had two Rowenta Irons to date. That might sound a bit concerning, considering the price. The replacements have nothing to do with Rowenta’s quality, but has everything to do with my family’s clumsiness! To Rowenta’s credit, both of my irons have taken more than one dive off of the ironing board and ‘lived’ to see another day of pressing. My current model is linked on the picture above.

Lasko Table Fan
Lasko R12210

Here at our Farm Cottage, it is necessary to use a table fan for our bedrooms. I enjoy this one because of its power and heavy-duty, vintage styling. Our first fan like this one is entering its third summer season. We like it so much we bought another last year for a separate bedroom.
