An Incomplete Log Of God’s Personal Kindnesses

Gifts, whether large or small, have been undisguised tokens of love throughout the ages. Gifts from God are no less. James 1:17 teaches that “every good and perfect gift is from the Father of lights.” That’s God, he’s talking about.

There’s another nugget to consider, tucked in Nehemiah 9:17a, “They refused to listen, and did not remember Your wondrous deeds which You performed among them…”  Part of a lament by Nehemiah regarding the Old Testament Israelites, this heavily convicted me one day. Do I live like I remember God’s deeds or his gifts?

To be sure, God gave the greatest gift of all, his Son, to save mankind. If there were never another gift given, the perfect gift of Jesus would undoubtedly overwhelm any gift this world or human lover could ever offer. But still, He gives more.

Years back, I began to realize that random gifts presented in my life, were actually not random at all. These ever so personal gifts of kindness, were tokens of love, straight from the hand of God…to me! Imagine that?!

I began looking for gifts in my life that unintentionally had slipped past me, unnoticed. They now bring me sweet, knowing delight much like the feeling I get when Stache surprisingly shows up at the door after work, -with flowers.

God deserves my unending praise.
