Do you have a new mom in your life? You’ve come to the right place! Grammie’s highly suggested, experientially researched list of encouraging, ‘Best Gifts for New Moms’, is finally here!

New Mom Life

Helping new moms restore their strength with health-promoting homecooked meals, mini-retreats, house cleaning, sibling childcare – you name it – it’s all incredibly loving and thoughtful! But what if you are entirely unable to personally serve your daughter, sister, or friend in this manner?

Whether separated by miles or your best intentions overwhelmed by any number of current life realities, there is still a hope to bless your girl with encouragement and healing in a big way!

Having grandbabies #9 and #10 due to arrive this winter has again had me thinking long and hard about the needs (and wants) of new moms. One of the babies is due to be born out of state early this next year, which will present some interesting challenges for our usual traditions of providing postnatal care. No doubt some creatively crafted plan will work its way out, but until then I’m excited to share with you my list of ‘Best Gifts For New Moms.’

Grammie’s Best Gifts For New Moms

If you’re tempted to run and grab the entire list, you’ll be laying down some pretty pennies! However, each item can easily be given alone and as you’ll quickly see, there’s something kind and intentional here for every budget. I will add – be sure to honestly evaluate your relationship with the new mom before choosing some of these options. Some of the gifts assume a deep level of trust. A less-than-glowing in-law relationship may not be able to support the gift of deep cleaning Home Services – if you know what I mean(!).

Delivery/Nursing Gown:

My daughters’ MIL gave her a thoughtful Nursing/ Delivery Gown before she delivered her first baby. She loved it! She decided to save the gown until after delivery, but use it while still in the hospital. Practical for every postpartum need, the gown cheered my daughter to have something new and cute to wear while caring for herself and the new baby in those early days after delivery. There are many choices to choose from to suit your new mom’s personal style.

Tinted Lip Balm

A stand-alone gift or paired with any other, Tinted Lip Balm is as practical as it is sure to bring a smile. Check out other choices here.

Measured Waterbottle

Nursing or not, new moms need plenty of water. Having something on hand to remind them to drink more than they are accustomed to is simply fun and practical! More choices here – all of them MUCH cuter and inviting than the utilitarian water pitcher sent home from the hospital.

Herbal Teas

Sipping hot tea is a soothing, delightful way to encourage the intake of specifically formulated, health-supporting herbs for new mom’s. This selection of herbal teas is broadly researched and reported to aid with nursing and feminine healing. Available in multiple brands, suggested tea considerations are Peaceful Mama, Raspberry Leaf Tea, Milkmaid Tea, and 3rd and 4th Trimester Loose Leaf Tea. [Note: Check with your doctor if you have any questions or concerns. This suggestion is not intended as medical advice.]

Draped Cardigan

All three of my daughters were gifted or loaned one of these cardigans, and each one says it is their #1 favorite gift idea! Roomy yet fitted in all the best ways, this uniquely cut cardi, naturally provides easy nursing privacy but does it with STYLE. Great for every season, they are available in lightweight knits to heavyweight sweaters. There are many choices here and potentially inexpensive enough to afford two. Any mom will tell you, a new piece or two of cute, ‘forgiving’ fitted clothing is a welcome gift indeed!

Bandeau or Scrunchy (or both!)

A cute, quick answer for taming your girls’ beautiful locks with a touch of Boho Style -not to mention keeping it all up and out of the way! Many choices are available.

Inspirational Flip Calendar

Early motherhood, as incredible as it is(!), is fraught with lost sleep and very little time to refresh mom’s mind and spirit with life-giving encouragement. Carefully selected Flip Calendars can provide a time-precious way to grab a Biblical truth for intentional meditation. A simple prayer or Bible verse creatively displayed for easy reading has the potential to set the tone for any given day. There are many to choose from.

Restaurant Gift Cards

Hardly an explanation needed! Can anybody say Panera, Panda, Olive Garden, or [insert new mom’s favorite]? You name it; there’s likely a gift card for it. Prepaid ‘permission’ to splurge a little on a delightful take-out meal provides some home-date fun while filling an essential need.

Amazon Prime Membership

If the new family doesn’t have Prime Membership already, they’ll soon find there are SO many helpful services and benefits to having Amazon Prime. A convenient Diaper Subscription would be a great start to help keep up with baby needs.

Prime Pantry Grocery Delivery

There are many Grocery Services available nowadays and so far as I’ve heard, they are all great options for homebound convenience. For at least two of my girls living too far out of range for local services, Prime Pantry is the best option to serve a wide range of grocery needs. Get your questions answered here! Prime Pantry goods currently have free delivery on orders of $35.00 or more and can be paid for with an Amazon Gift Card.

Home Services Gift

I couldn’t believe it when I heard of it, but sure enough, depending on the new mom’s location, Amazon offers PAGES of Home Services to choose from. House Cleaning (!), Deep Cleaning, ‘Holiday Light Hanging’, all sorts of honest labor, contracted and paid for through Amazon, – and able to be given as a gift!

Well, there you have it, thoughtful gifts for every budget and relationship! Much love to you as you confidently shop and give gifts to the new moms in your life!!
